Creative SoundBlaster Live! Player 5.1

See my configuring ALSA page for instructions on getting ALSA working. To enable support for this card, enable
PCI devices  --->
    <M> Emu10k1 (SB Live!, Audigy, E-mu APS)
Code listing 2.1

The SoundBlaster Live! card has hardware mixing capabilities, so you don't need a software mixer daemon like esd/arts nor do you need to use ALSA's dmix plugin, to be able to play multiple sounds at the same time.

The card also comes with a game port, but I don't have a joystick, I have not tried to configure the game port.

Ensoniq ES1371

The Ensoniq ES1371 shows up in my system as an Ensoniq ES1371 [AudioPCI-97] (rev 08) (reported by lspci).

The card has two DACs (Digital-Analog Converters), which makes it possible to play two sounds at the same time, which means that you can have xmms playing on the second DAC, and all system sounds played on the first. If you need to play more than two sounds at the same time, I recommend ALSA's dmix plugin

See my configuring ALSA page for instructions on getting ALSA working. To enable support for this card, enable the following under PCI devices:
PCI devices  --->
    <M> (Creative) Ensoniq AudioPCI 1371/1373
Code listing 3.1
